ACS assessment is divided into 4 categories: 485 Temporary Visa Skills Assessment, Australian Qualification Migration Skills Assessment, General Skilled Migration Skills Assessment, and Pre-qualification Employment Assessment. In recent years, ACS has been increasingly focusing on the combination of education and work experience. Therefore, when processing skills assessments for migration purposes, the corresponding work experience is deducted based on the applicant’s education, major, and specific job requirements. This ensures that the applicant’s work experience points are more accurately aligned with the standards of the immigration department, thus ensuring that IT professionals who truly meet Australia’s needs can enter the Australian market. Except for applicants holding a 485 visa, who must meet the requirement of at least one year of post-graduation work experience or completion of a professional year, applicants with other educational qualifications have the following work experience requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree or higher in ICT, and relevant to the nominated occupation:
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the past 10 years, or
At least 4 years of relevant work experience in the past 4 years.
-Bachelor’s degree or higher in ICT, but not relevant to the nominated occupation:
At least 4 years of relevant work experience in the past 4 years.
-Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minor in ICT, and relevant to the nominated occupation:
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the past 10 years, or
At least 6 years of relevant work experience in the past 6 years.
-Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minor in ICT, but not relevant to the nominated occupation:
At least 6 years of relevant work experience.
-Diploma-level qualification in ICT, and relevant to the nominated occupation:
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the past 10 years, or
At least 6 years of relevant work experience in the past 6 years.
-Diploma-level qualification in ICT, but not relevant to the nominated occupation:
At least 6 years of work experience.
-Non-ICT diploma-level qualification:
At least 6 years of work experience, and additional pre-qualification employment assessment is required.
-Work experience only, without a formal qualification:
At least 8 years of work experience, and additional pre-qualification employment assessment is required.
The ACS assessment outcome will indicate the dates that can be used for immigration points calculation, assisting the immigration department in reviewing IT-related skilled migration applications.
